Meeting with the DCMS and the ICO

Commissioner for International Cooperation of the PPC Shuhei Ohshima on 11 April 2017 visited the Department for Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS: charged with developing data protection and other policies) of the UK to have an exchange of views with Director for Europe, Data, Digital & Security Rosemary Pratt and UK Information Commissioner Elizabeth Denham of the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO: charged with enforcing data protection measures).

Commissioner Ohshima provided an explanation about the outline of the amended Act on the Protection of Personal Information, the PPC’s efforts on international cooperation and other related activities.

The UK interlocutors covered a range of issues including the administration and enforcement framework of data transfer. It has been agreed that the PPC, the DCMS and the ICO will continue dialogues and making efforts to establish cooperative relationships in the future.
