Meeting with Commission for Personal Data Protection (CPDP)

On Oct 19, 2017, Commissioner Ohshima of the Personal Information Protection Commission (PPC) visited Commission for Personal Data Protection (CPDP)open with a new window and exchanged views with Chairman Ventsislav Karadjov.

In the meeting, both countries explained their personal information protection system and their outline of data protection authority. Also, Chairman Karadjov explained International Conference of Data Protection and Privacy Commissioners held in Sofia in Oct 2018 and the situation of preparation for GDPR, which will be enforced in May 2018. Commissioner Ohshima explained the PPC’s addresses to establish a system of mutual and smooth transfer of personal data between EU and Japan, and the PPC believes that CPDP’s understandings on Japanese system etc. were deepened.

Based on these exchanges of views, CPDP and the PPC shared the direction that cooperative relationship would be further promoted.
